The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its affiliated defense industries have been self-sufficient for several years in all fields, including the missile field, especially ballistic missiles. In the following, we will get acquainted with 5 types of these missiles.

Rebellion rocket

Rebellion rocket The mid-range ballistic missile of the uprising was unveiled on August 20, 2010, at the same time as the official opening of the Bushehr nuclear power plant and in the presence of our country’s defense officials. According to the military commanders of our country, this missile was designed with the idea of Sardar Tehrani Moghaddam and to destroy the Zionist regime. The uprising missile was tested for the first time in a provincial exercise.

Weight: 6 tons, of which 650 kg is the weight of the missile warhead.



Engine: Single stage liquid fuel.



Flight ceiling: 200 km.



Operating range: 800 km (ability to reach near the Mediterranean Sea and the Zionist regime).

The missile was used to attack US bases in Iraq in response to the assassination of Qassem Soleimani.

Khorramshahr missile

Khorramshahr ballistic missile on September 22, 1996, during the annual parade of the Armed Forces in front of the holy shrine of Imam Khomeini (ra) went in front of the parade site to be unveiled in this way. Sardar Hajizadeh had said that the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Support had designed and built it specifically for the IRGC airspace. The second generation of this missile has also been made, which differs from the first generation in some parts, such as the shape of the warhead.



Length: 13 meters.



Diameter: 1.5 meters.



Weight: 20 tons, of which 2 tons is related to the missile warhead.



Engine: Liquid fuel.



Movement speed: more than Mach 15.



Operating range: 2,000 km.

Features: No bulk in the body, very high speed, warhead capable of carrying multiple warheads, hypersonic warheads, explosive power and very high accuracy, the ability to pass through the defense and anti-missile systems of enemies and many other capabilities

Sajil missile

Sejil is the first long-range missile of the solid-fuel ballistic missile generation, which was unveiled and successfully tested on November 13, 1987 in the presence of the then Minister of Defense, Sardar Mohammad Najjar, under the name of Ashura Project, which caused a great change in Iran’s missile industry. This missile was made in two types with the letters Sajil 1 and 2.



Length: 17/57 meters.



Diameter: 1/25 meters.



Weight: 23 tons, of which 1000 kg is related to the missile warhead.



Engine: Two-stage solid fuel.



Operating range: 2500 km.



Flight ceiling: 250 km.



Target hit: 4300 meters per second.



Guidance system: High-precision inertia that can target targets with an accuracy of less than 20 meters.



Features: Very low preparation time, high acceleration when launching and firing, use of new navigation system and very sophisticated sensors, impossibility of tracking by the enemy and the ability to cross the barrier of defense systems such as Patriot and Iron Dome.

Emad missile

Emad ballistic missile is one of the ballistic missiles made by our country’s defense industry, which was unveiled and introduced on October 10, 1995 in the presence of our country’s defense officials such as Sardar Hossein Dehghan, former Minister of Defense, and Sardar Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC Air Force. Of course, this missile was tested a year before its unveiling, in 2015.



Length: 15 meters.



Diameter: 1/25 meters.



Weight: 17 tons, of which 750 kg is related to the missile warhead.



Engine: Two-stage liquid fuel.



Operating range: range of 1,700 km to 2,000 km.



Features: High scrolling speed, ability to pass through enemy defense systems such as Arrow 3, very low error rate, maneuverability, the ability to control until the last moment of hitting the target, the ability to launch from fixed and mobile launchers and many secret features
